The A-TEAM: Powerful Team. Exceptional Service.
Mutual respect, a collaborative approach and steadfast integrity—these three qualities characterize the collective talents of this top-producing Vail Valley real estate team. Their story is one of inspiration and synergy, as if their paths were meant to converge.
Since 1995, David Adkins, MBA, GRI has worked hard to establish a distinguished reputation in real estate and development. Anna Menz transitioned her extraordinary sales talent from Vail Resorts club membership sales to real estate in 1998. And, their Assistant, Jen Wanner, cultivated top-notch customer service skills as a fine dining restauranteur before redirecting her career to real estate in 2005.
Reciprocal trust and a longtime working relationship between Adkins and Menz led to the formation of this dynamic real estate force in 2012. Realizing a need for superior administrative and transactional support with a real estate back ground they recruited Wanner. The result is an award-winning real estate collaborative—The A-TEAM.
The build up
In 1991, Adkins, a commercial REALTOR® in southern California, moved to Vail to see what the Valley had to offer. Skiing and outdoor recreation aside, he was also interested in building a business. Within a year he met his wife, Jennifer, and decided to make Colorado home. In 1994, they left the Valley so he could earn an MBA at the University of Colorado in Boulder. A valuable relationship with Rod Slifer brought Adkins back to Vail in 1995 to focus on real estate construction and development in a thriving market. After more than a decade of success, Adkins became branch broker for Slifer Smith & Frampton’s Arrowhead office in 2006. Adkins and his wife have two daughters, Charlotte and Adaline, together they enjoy skiing, golfing, biking and snowmobiling.
Menz’s backstory is one of natural progression. She arrived in Vail from Australia in 1986 and immediately fell in love with the mountain lifestyle that lures us all. A dedicated professional, she become a dominant force in destination resort management while leading the local mountain biking circuit. In 1996, her career evolved to director of club membership sales at Beaver Creek Resort. Her passion for sales was intrinsically connected to the burgeoning real estate opportunities rapidly growing around her and after four years as director, she turned her full attention to real estate in the neighborhoods of her members: Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch. With close ties to the community that won her heart, Menz has always taken time to give back. In 1999 she began volunteering for Vail’s Buddy Mentor program. During this time, she established significantly close ties with one of her mentees, Justine. When she has down time from her busy career, you will often find Menz on the mountain either skiing or biking, or spending quality time with Justine and her friends.
Wanner, a Vail resident since 2002, was focusing on a graduate degree in school counseling when she discovered a new passion, helping others realize the dream of homeownership. This epiphany came to her when she and her husband purchased a home in East Vail to start a family and discover their future together. The positive purchasing experience broadened her life perspective and influenced her career change. Wife and mother of two, Wanner enjoys the challenge that each unique transaction brings. From marketing director to transaction coordinator, Wanner is a crucial component to the A-TEAM effectiveness and success.
A tour de force
Working with the A-TEAM is like working with a precisely designed machine, as if they have worked together for decades. In many ways they have. At the start of their individual Vail real estate careers, Adkins and Menz shared the same mentor, John Appleby, a widely respected Slifer Smith & Frampton associate for 35 years. Appleby cultivated their individual strengths while sharing his wealth of knowledge. Today, the two professionals have established similar styles with complementary specialties, enabling them to serve clients with substantial results and are now passing on their skills and wealth of knowledge to Wanner.
“Our similar approaches and shared experience allow us to go above and beyond every sales transaction to provide on-going consultation and valuable resources for our customers,” says Anna.
Adkins adds, “We utilize the outstanding assets provided by the best real estate company in the Valley to reach beyond our clients expectations. We are able to expose the properties we represent to the market in a way that promotes both the property and our brand like no other team in the Valley.”
Wanner states, "We are a dynamic force who strives to provide an exceptional and authentic buying and selling experience with high integrity and long standing relationships."
